Happy Poetry Day! ~ Springing

Soft fuzz forms on the tips of blooms to come.
They plump with anticipation.
Birds soar the sky for the first time in months.
Pointing their way to their Northern destinations.

The white landscape turns to caramel under the closer heat.
Hills transform into mounds of sugary sweetness.

Sweet water runs from the maples
Sharing their golden splendor with us.

Seeds itch.
Ground softens.
Bodies transform.
Sun shines.
We are springing.

Smoke and Rain
Reforged #1

The pieces must be gathered and flames kindled before I'm reforged. I don't know what shape I will take. Those pieces might become a hero...or a monster.

A mad king’s genocide destroyed Alea's home and left her sanity in tatters. The struggle between the gods and their creators fills the world with war. Caught in the crossfire of a conflict she knows little about, Alea only wants a quiet life. Trouble is, the darkness roiling in her mind may be the one thing that could end the bloodshed.

A storm brews within her, and not even the gods will be safe when it breaks upon the world.

A thought provoking and compelling dystopian world that will change the way you view justice...

A man fights for life—and redemption—in D. M. Cain’s riveting re-released novel, The Phoenix Project.

Britain has descended into chaos as violence and terrorist attacks seethe across this once-peaceful country. Outraged by the steady stream of lawlessness, citizens demand a harsher penal system, and the Phoenix Project is born.

In prisons across the country, inmates fight to the death in a weekly bloodbath while the nation cheers them on.

Raven Kennedy, a prisoner who has never forgiven himself for his unspeakable crime, struggles against his own guilt and self-loathing. But even as the real war wages on within himself, Raven is forced to battle some of the prison’s most ruthless killing machines. Can he survive long enough to unravel the anger and regret that shackle him—and one day find the forgiveness he seeks?

Thoughts At the Kitchen Sink

If you could spend a day in my body
You would believe.

I have aches and pains
Every day.
I push through it most of the time.

If you could spend a day in my body
You would see.

Beauty is everywhere
You need only look.
My eyes are my greatest gift.

If you could spend a day in my body
You might be surprised.

My inner thoughts are true.
My personality is real.
I am genuine.

If you could spend a day in my body
You would know.

I know I am judged by the way I look
Not what is inside, to some.

What is inside is so much more
Than what you see on the surface.

If you could spend a day in my body
Then I could spend a day in yours.

Then there would be complete and total understanding.

Winging It

Today I'm just gonna write.
Right here.
Right now.

Writing.

I'll see where it takes me.
Where I end up.
What is my brain thinking about?
So many thoughts swirl through at once.
I glimpse a piece of something...
Then it's gone.
What was that?

Writing.

It's Labor Day.
Do I need to blog about it?
I think not.
Not that I've read anyone else's,
But I don't want to write about that.

Right now.
Right here.

Writing.

I'm hot and muggy.
Sweating for no reason.
I've wiped my brow more times than I can count.
I'm just sitting.

Writing.

Did I really just write about the weather?
Oh man.
I guess I did.
But that's how it is...

Right here.
Right now.

Winging it.
